Synth in Synth: Germany - Sydney

Delightful mixing of media here, producing some fun peer groups and a great concept that I'd love to have explored more. I might wish that there was less extraneous "space" in this synth, but it is still a wonderful application of the technology.

Zman

I've been wondering when someone would finally synth a face well. I'm guessing the freckles provide the texture needed by the synther. In any case, this is great! Can't wait to see more of this going on.

zong

Trippy transitions on what appears to be some sort of video capture. I spent a quite a while browsing through this trying to figure out what was going on. Bravo.

Merlion in Infrared

As a fan of Infrared photography, I'm excited that it is being synthed. While it isn't 75%+ synthy, there are a couple of really amazing groups. All of the shots are compelling and the color treatment lends to a very down-the-rabbit-hole feeling.

Asahiyama Zoo Seal 2

This is the first time I've seen a synth nail the transition from outside to inside whilst moving through a door. With 138 photos at 100% synthy, there's a lot of fun things to see here. My favorite is the pillar in the middle of the aquarium where the animals swim up and down.

Debajo de la Torre Eiffel 2008

I'm glad that people are taking well known objects and monuments and photographing them in different ways. I think this view of the Eiffel Tower is imaginative and delightful.

World of Cow Joke-a-thon 2

How bizarre; I clicked around this synth for many a minute shaking my head in wonderment. There are some neat "easter eggs" having to do with one of the cow's eyes, and the whole thing will keep you exploring well past what is good for your psyche.

Sharon Spinning

A classic of example of breaking all the rules and coming up with something great. It's shot in a mirror, most of the shots are blurred (though if you hit spacebar to navigate through swiftly, it certainly adds a little je ne sais quoi), and the main subject doesn't synth well.

For all that, I love this synth. It's playful and intriguing. People may say "you're doing it wrong"; but if this is wrong, I don't want to see right!

Heidi

Lots of detail shots in this synth, you can really get up close to some areas. I might wish that it was focused more around the individual in the scene, that notwithstanding there is a lot to explore here.

Sunset

Another sunset! The tones in this are beautiful, nice capture of a spectacular sunset. The clouds are gorgeous, the whole scene is breathtaking. I feel like I want to take a long walk on a beach now, or have a candle light dinner.

Shanti Stupa, Ladakh

Awesome cross-process treatment with these photos of an interesting location. The detail shots are particularly nice.

Dubai2

You know Photosynth is something when people are doing the "Look at me grab famous land mark X" and synthing them. Great narration going on here, and love how the synther rotates a couple of these.

8th Grade Presentation

Awesome use of Photosynth as a narrative art form. Really diggin' the aesthetic and how this synth pushes the boundaries. Also, someone might have finally found a useful application of this technology.

de Young Chihuly First Exibit

Decontextual, and interesting to look at by virtue of being visually pleasing. Here's hoping that more of this kind of synth are created.

Liver

Awesome idea; pushes the boundaries of photography and what a "synth" can be.

garnet lake

Every single shot in this synth is gorgeous, and it's 100% synthy. I enjoy seeing the changes in lighting, cloud cover and the passage of time in general. The best part is that there are only 10 pictures. Nice to see people making outstanding synths with a minimum of photos.

Helgoland sunset photsynth combined with autostitch 4

Semi-obligatory sunset shot. Though perhaps not the prettiest out there, the use of photo stitching as a bridge is pretty slick; and hey, it's still a sunset.

Alcoi de nit

Beautiful, and interesting, synth. Images are reasonably high-rez, allowing a lot of exploration. Wish they would have gone one step further and gotten really close to some areas.

Synths

It's a synth of a bunch of synthesizers. I am not sure if this is cute, or ironic...but it's something.

Jens Hubner

Great use of Photosynth as virtual art gallery, created from a real art gallery! The picture are shot with enough detail that you can zoom in on them fairly well and the overall experience is reminiscent of a small art walk.

It's the art walk you can do in your underwear.

Dining at the Traffic Circle

Let's hear it for Green Lake, Seattle! These images compose not just an interesting set of pictures, but a wonderful "scene" to explore. The people are actively engaged and dynamic, but the point cloud is still pretty dense.

convention

Very little information about what is going on here other than the cryptic title: "convention". What I see is a 180 degree camera being shot from a car as it moves around. It's fairly surprising that this synthed at all, let alone as well as it did. The overall effect is very interesting to move through, and the point cloud is trippy.

Gibraltar formation--Valley of Fire Park

Whatever your feelings are on HDR and other, similar, photo treatments; this synth comes out feeling lightweight and very beautiful.

star synth

A lot of work went in to this synth. A dual collage of of backgrounds and star faces to create one amazing synth that is very intersting to explore.

Houdini on Mass Ave. Bridge

I love how the creator mixes and matches historic photos and modern ones. Lovely transitions and interesting superimposed areas.

Coronelli Terrestrial Globe - BNF

Great use of Photosynth to create an "object" in a virtualized space; the web equivalent of spinning a globe and picking a random place on it.

My dirty room

Outstanding synth for poking around and discovering objects. From the time on a wrist watch, to the books on the shelf, you can find anything in this room...provided you can read Russian.
